IT ENDS WITH US
This book is definitely worth the hype it has been receiving. The protagonist has a very relatable backstory of an abusive father and the loss of self-esteem her mother experiences for the sake of love. The book portrays a childhood romance alongside a very happening adult life. The best part of the book is when she inspires young girls to stand up and speak out for themselves, while also noting the cycle of abuse that happens in one's life and how difficult it can be to break out of it. For me, this book is definitely a 4.5/ 5.
If you are a fan of next-door romances, this is the book for you. This book is from the perspective of both the lovers that occur in a series of flashbacks and current times. This book has it all– a deep backstory, pain, love, and a beautiful ending. It is great for a one-time read, specifically due to how emotionally draining it feels. I would rate this book a 3.5/5.
This book will sweep you off the ground. The chills this book gives have no end. A disturbing start to an even more shocking plot where the twists keep you on your toes! It is a slightly different form of storytelling when compared to Hoover’s past books but the quality of the story is nowhere compromised. The book is definitely a 4/5.
This read is different from Hoover’s other popular novels. The story is from the perspective of a mother and daughter, both of whom are in the middle of a major tragic portion of their lives. This story follows the youngest daughter discovering love and the mother examining her past and finding answers she never had before in the aftermath of an incident. Tensions rise in more ways than one, especially when the relationship between the mother and the daughter starts to take a turn for the worse. This book is definitely worth a read (maybe more than one) and I would rate it a 3.5/5.
These are some of Colleen Hoover’s books I would definitely recommend to someone, despite the varying opinions and overall quality of the book I deem them to have. If you are on the lookout for romance books with deep layers to navigate, I would definitely check her work out!
